In Nicaragua the conventional standard recycling facilities are absent. Though, big parts of the garbage can be recycled or re-used by creative solutions that have few benefits: reducing garbage, make the communities more beautiful and transmitting environmental message. This is practically our ‘street education’.
We create useful, beautiful and clean community areas with tire tables, playgrounds and trash bins. The results are immense and the understanding of recycling and maintenance are huge!
Plastic bottles, tires, bottle caps and glass are not just trash but also ideal material to build a community park! Smaller and bigger parks are already built in León, Estelí and Managua. We build the parks with the communities and schools together and everyone works hand in hand together to create a useful, beautiful and clean community area with tire tables, playgrounds and trash bins. The results are immense and the understanding of recycling and maintenance are huge!
Bottle caps, glass and other trash are perfect to create beatiful murals in urban areas as well as in schools. The installation is build with the local communities or school kids.
Art is expression of feelings and a way of discussing important social topics. We love it and use it in urban landscapes as well as in school buildings. Mostly bottle caps and glass are used to create murals with locally important environmental topics such as the “Turtle egg” mural at the Sutayaba market in León. Schools and communities install it with us – often with a lot of discussions and also a lot of fun with the locals around it.
Trash Bl Instalations
We construct trash bins made of recycling material at schools and urban open spaces. They are installed in the cities of León, Estelí but especially the rural communities around them
Solar lamp installations
Our solar lamps, made out of plastic bottles, significantly reduce the use of electricity during the daytime, saving money for the families. And, of course, are super environmentally friendly!
Easy, lasts for years, cheap, environmental friendly. In this project we install solar lamps made out of plastic bottles in houses in the cities of León, Estelí and the rural communities around them. The lamps significantly reduce the use of electricity during the daytime, saving money for the families, and, of course, they are super environmentally friendly!
